Ms Dorothy Kang’oro

Ms Dorothy Kang’oro founder of AfriLaw is a highly experienced Tax & Legal Practioner specialized in Africa. An Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, admitted to the Bar in 1998, received her Bachelor of Laws Degree from University of Nairobi in 1996 going onto undertake her Practice with leading commercial Law firms before joining KPMG East Africa as Tax and Legal consultant.

She went on to relocate to South Africa where she was an International Tax Practitioner with Arthur Andersen and later Deloitte. Based in South Africa, Ms Kang’oro was the General Counsel for Africa for a GS Telecom a pan-Africa telecoms company, International Tax Adviser at South Africa Revenue Services (SARS) and Senior Tax Adviser Shell Oil Products South Africa and Head of Tax for SEACOM.

As a Senior Legal and Tax Practioner, Ms Kang’oro has on several occasions assisted companies set up their African operations , successfully negotiating  obtaining all licenses, regulatory approvals and tax incentives. She has developed key business relationships across the continent.

Ms Kang’oro has travelled extensively in Africa advising clients on various deals in West, East, North and South Africa, gaining in depth knowledge of different legal and fiscal systems in Africa. She has experience in the ICT, Oil & Petroleum and Financial Advisory Sectors.  Acknowledged in ICT sector Ms Kang’oro has previously been profiled in various publications for her contribution to the ICT sector and presented papers at various international conferences and symposiums.

Dr Eric Ketchemin

Dr Ketchemin is a Doctor of International and Comparative Tax Law, with extensive experience in providing exceptional commercial strategies for private sector organisations operating within this region. Skilled in delivering innovative solutions to optimise Tax benefits and significantly enhance business revenue.

A highly qualified Senior Tax Adviser with Specialist knowledge of the African Region whose progressive career has been based upon a platform of education and experience within the worlds Blue Chip Financial Accounting organisations.  Dr Ketchemin has worked with the Deloitte and Ernest & Young where he was Senior Manager International Tax . He has lectured at Wits University Master of  Commerce, Tax course.

Dr Ketchemin has received academic awards in the field of international tax culminating with his presentation of his doctoral thesis at the 2001 Annual Congress of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) in San Francisco (USA).

Mr Majahezansi Ngcobo

Mr Majahezansi Ngcobo is the head of our Business Advisory division. Majahezansi has over 10 years experience in the International Trade, Economic, Research, consulting and business development environment and has worked for various private sector and international organizations.

Among the institutions that he has worked and consulted for include: NEPAD, Duncan Gilbey and Matheson International, ASPB Southern Africa, MBB International, Bocofe Consulting, Sanoco Holdings, AH Mining and Engineering Solutions and Snappi Export.

Most recently, he was Deputy Director in the City of Johannesburg’s Department of Economic Development in-charge of Trade and Investment Promotion, a position he held for 3 years.

His areas of specialization among others, include: Research, Local Economic Development (LED), Project Management, International Business Development, Strategic Alliances, Partnership Searches, Feasibility Studies, Trade and Investment Facilitation, Development, Strategic Trade and Investment Analysis- Investment codes and protocols, Tax Regimes, Interpretation of Bilateral and Regional Trade Agreements and Treaties; risk profiling, identification of barriers of entry; and crafting of market entry strategies.

He has also consulted in the petroleum, mining and FMCG sectors in South Africa and the rest of the African continent for multinational and South African clients.

He was listed as a Research and Business Development Consultant providing services to a number of companies in the South Africa’s Top 300 National companies 2004/2005 Publication.
